Bands

Carolina Reapers Swing

Carolina Reapers Swing (Montpellier, France) were born when young musicians crazy about jazz from the 1930s and 1940s met swing dancing. Out of this synergy came a band who brings back jazz standards and rare pieces that have bound together swing music and swing dance since the early days of Lindy Hop.
They revive for you songs that will thrill you, body and soul—by Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Sidney Bechet, Artie Shaw, Billie Holiday, Coleman Hawkins, and others—spiced up with some occasional touch of bebop and a taste of New Orleans.

Who are the Carolina Reapers ? David Tavani (clarinet), Benjamin Faconnier (vocals and trumpet), Sami Khalfoune (vocals and trombone), Audrey Leclair (vocals and guitar), Joseph Vu Van (vocals and piano), Fernando Morrison (double bass), Arthur Defrain (drums).

Frog and Henry

Frog and Henry is influenced by blues, jazz, stringband, ragtime, and dance band recordings from the 20’s and 30’s — jazz bands with violin, jug, or harmonica and jugbands with cornet, tuba, or clarinet — like The Dixieland Jug Blowers, Frenchy’s Stringband, Lionel Belasco, Leecan & Cooksey, Sara Martin, King Oliver, and Johnny Dodds.

Somtimes they’re a duo; and sometimes we’re a larger group of 4-8 people. For our duo performances, we feature the Tuba Machine which allows one person to function as an entire rhythm section — playing tuba and guitar simultaneously — under vocals, cornet, and violin. For dance events, bigger festivals and wherever else it fits, we normally bring our larger ensemble.

We formed in New Orleans, from members of several street performing groups. Our line up changes depending on where we are and who’s available, which means that even if we wanted to, we couldn’t repeat a performance from one show to another. Our audiences can always expect something they’ve never seen before.
Frog&Henry’s members also play with The Loose Marbles, The Hokum High Rollers, Tuba Skinny,The Cable Street Rag Band, and The Haret.

Frog and Henry plays really old music from the americas.

The Real Gone Tones

The Real Gone Tones originated from Warsaw, Poland, playing a mix of rockabilly, rhythm’n’blues, swing and country everywhere they go since 2011. Rockin’ and kickin’ it, making you bop and shout! The band performs their own material as well as covers of old, long forgotten tunes. One of their main characteristics, apart from a charming gal as the lead vocal, wild drummer, crazy slappin’ bass player and mad guitar player, is an addition of harmonica and second (male) vocal. Watch out, cats and dolls, these two singin’ devils are some real deal heartbreakers! You won’t believe your eyes and ears!

In the beginning of the 2015 they released their first, long awaited album called ‘So Cool’. With the beginning of 2016 their second album, ‘Hot Mess’ along with an EP album ‘Mean Mama’ are being released by El Toro Records!

The Cajun Spices

Put together some cayenne pepper, a bunch of oregano, thyme, garlic and sweet pepper to recall the taste of Louisiana. Mix the washboard, banjo, guitar, saxophone, double bass, violin and accordion to discover it’s sound. The Cajun Spices is an unique combination of passion for music and swing dancing being the one and only band in Poland created by dancers and for dancers. The band’s inspiration is music performed by legends of jazz from 20’s and 30’s, the gypsy jazz and the sound of today’s New Orleans street musicians and busking bands. Join our journey to the place where the dew is hanging diamonds on the clover’s green leaves and the breeze is singing softly in the shadow of trees watching the waters of the lazy Mississippi.

DJ Shagirl

It began with music and that first violin lesson when she was 6 years old. Her adventure with dance began a bit later – in 2014 at the SWINGOUT.PL Swing Dance Studio in Warsaw (Poland). What quickly became her greatest love was the Collegiate Shag. She currently combines her passion for dance and music by dancing with the Warsaw Shag Team, playing the violin in The Cajun Spices band, and DJ-ing at swing events and festivals.

She seeks musical inspiration in classic swing and traditional New Orleans jazz, as well as in the sound of contemporary bands, among them such groups as Tuba Skinny, Rhythm Junkies and The Two Man Gentleman Band. The most important thing to her in the music she plays is the joy and positive energy that carries dancers out onto the dance floor.

DJ Grzesiek

Just after Grzegorz started (recently!) dancing Lindy Hop in Warsaw Swing Dance Studio SWINGOUT.PL he completely fell in love with swing music and traditional jazz. With his music you can be sure to feel good groove and to hear many crazy wind instruments straight from New Orleans. He loves the sound of trombone.

DJ Patrick Kierkegaard (aka Prof Shag)

Patrick is passionate about social dancing and brings that same love and drive to his deejaying. With the experience of deejaying countless hours at several national and international venues and events, he has developed a knack for when it comes to reading a crowd and delivering music guaranteed to keep the energy in the room high, toes tapping, and the audience smiling throughout the night. As a DJ, his desire is to bring the best and most inspiring music (both old and new recordings) to every floor he deejays and he works relentlessly to keep the floor swinging.
